‘Windows of Youth Creativity… We Made It!’

We’re very excited to share with you an exciting new project in one of our windows on King Street from Wild in Art. They are delighted to present ‘Windows of Youth Creativity… We Made It!’ as part of Manchester City Council’s ‘2022: Our Year’ project, from 22 October until 27 November 2022. This project has given a wonderful opportunity for young people to showcase their achievements in an array of windows, spaces and performances across the city centre.

Throughout the year, Manchester’s children and young people have been taking part in a series of creative activities, projects and workshops with teachers, professional artists and creatives. From giant robots and mosaic sea creatures to displays of digital art, illustrations and mixed media, the exhibition celebrate the achievements and resilience of our young people.

You can view one of the amazing windows of artwork here on King Street. The left window displays “Manifesto” by St. Peter’s High School Young Carers & Manchester Street Poem and in the right window we have an exhibition of work submitted by young people for the 2022 Our Year competition, run by Connell Co-op College.

The exhibition has been produced by global public art producers Wild in Art, whose previous work includes the award-winning Bee in the City art trail and 50 Windows of Creativity which celebrated Manchester’s creative community. King Street passionately champion the importance of art and being creative for everyone and this project has provided a wonderful opportunity for young people to showcase their achievements. Our Year celebrates Manchester’s children and young people with a whole-city approach to help them shape a future that’s safe, happy, healthy, and successful. It is a year of action, together, to create more activities, opportunities, experiences and support for our children and young people.
