Looking for something different to do in Manchester this summer? A new city-wide art trail is landing from 7th July, and it’s set to bring music, creativity, and a serious dose of culture to the streets. One of its headline moments? Guitar Street on King Street a striking outdoor installation that blends Manchester’s music history with vibrant public art.
Here’s what to know, and why it’s worth adding to your summer to-do list.
What is Music for the Senses?
Produced by the team behind Bee in the City, Music for the Senses is a large-scale public art trail running across Manchester city centre from 7th July to 31st August 2025. Think of it as an open-air gallery but instead of paintings, you’ll find 60 upcycled guitars, each completely reimagined by different artists and designers.
The trail celebrates Manchester’s iconic music scene, from Britpop to indie, punk to soul with guitars donated by bands like Oasis, Elbow, and Busted set to feature as part of the collection.
Why visit Guitar Street on King Street?
King Street will be home to the flagship installation, dubbed Guitar Street. Expect a bold, immersive display right in the middle of one of the city’s most iconic shopping and dining spots.
As one of just five official supporters of the trail, King Street will be the go-to destination for those wanting to experience the exhibition in full — combining culture, shopping, food, and atmosphere all in one place. You’ll also find King Street’s very own sponsored guitar, designed by UK artist Lois Cordelia, who’s known for her bold, energetic style and intricate paper-cut work.
And if you’re passing through, keep an eye on the Music for the Senses app — not only will King Street be highlighted as a key stop, but you’ll also unlock exclusive offers from local shops, restaurants, and venues via the app.
A moment for Manchester
The timing of the trail couldn’t be more perfect. With more than 1.3 million extra visitors expected in the city this summer, including those travelling for a much-anticipated Oasis reunion the trail will put Manchester’s creative energy front and centre.
Better still, it’s all in support of Forever Manchester, a charity that helps fund grassroots music projects across Greater Manchester.
